Rural Water District Manager

Are you passionate about serving your community and ensuring access to clean, safe water?

Wagoner County Rural Water District 6 is seeking a dedicated and experienced leader to serve as our new Manager. Located in Wagoner, OK, our district provides essential water services to 875 benefit unit holders across central Wagoner County. We are a committed team with a strong focus on sustainability, community engagement, and regulatory compliance.

In this role, you will:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the district, including water treatment and distribution systems, maintenance, and emergency response.
  • Manage a team of skilled personnel, providing leadership, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Develop and implement budgets, capital improvement plans, and long-term strategic initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with all state and federal water regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Foster positive relationships with the board of directors, community stakeholders, and regulatory agencies.
  • Communicate effectively with the public about water usage, conservation efforts, and potential service disruptions.
  • Stay informed about technological advancements and best practices in the water industry.

To be successful, you will need:

  • Proven leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team.
  • Strong financial and budgetary acumen.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including spreadsheets, word processing, and project management software.
  • Knowledge of relevant state and federal water regulations and compliance procedures.
  • Preferred:
    • At least three years of experience in water resource management or a similar field.
    • A bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering, or a related field
    • Water operator certification(s) and experience in rural water district operations.

Salary:  $35,000 - $55,000, commensurate with skills and experience.
